Melissa Lisanti, MAEd, Co-Founder
My decision to join forces with a terrific colleague, Sharon, to form Strategies for Action has meant stimulating challenge, hard work, and genuine satisfaction. The opportunity to provide support for teachers and students is the perfect way to stay connected to daily classroom practice while I work full-time on my dissertation. I look forward to earning my Ph.D. in May, 2010 when I hope to use my research to further benefit my clients.
My previous work experiences and professional development opportunities have offered me so much that it seems appropriate to find ways that I can be of service to my field. During my years as a middle school teacher, I taught students of all ages, acted as department chair, participated in every professional development program that came my way, presented at regional and national conferences, and earned my National Board Teaching Certification. I have continued that work since leaving the classroom to pursue my doctorate...offering seminars, co-writing a federal grant, presenting at conferences, supervising student teachers, and coordinating a comprehensive professional development program for social studies teachers in a nearby district. Now, though, I have the added excitement of my own research agenda.
Curriculum, teaching, and learning are very much my passions and I never tire of reading, researching, learning, or chatting about them...as my husband can corroborate! For more details on my background and experience, refer to the CV posted below.
